STEVE SPANIER

Steve

Steve Spanier is a husband, father, brother, son, friend and citizen of the United States. His life ambition is to do each of these better every day.

To continually become a better citizen, Steve works to promote We the People. He plans to dedicate the remainder of his useful years to the proposition that our great country can someday put people over profits, helping over killing, unifying over dividing, cooperating over competing, and equality over domination.

Prior to advocating for We the People, Steve had the privilege of experiencing life inside a variety of organizations, both governmental and commercial. From positions of significant responsibility, he saw first hand the pressures that leaders of such organizations face as they attempt to satisfy their stakeholders. Eventually, he came to understand how these pressures frequently cause leaders to act in ways that harm We the People and the environment in which we live.

Around the turn of the century, Steve’s eyes were opened by a book by David Korten entitled The Post Corporate World. Since then, Steve has spent a great deal of time reading and thinking about democracy-related issues. His democracy work has given him a much clearer understanding of why the world works the way it does. His current work spreads that knowledge and motivates We the People to create the kind of change we need.

Over the last decade, Steve has taught classes for the University of California Irvine and California State University at Fullerton extension programs, hosted a radio show on democracy-related topics, given talks for a wide variety of groups, and conducted meetings on the state of our democracy and how we might reclaim it.

Through This Is MY Government, Steve hopes to create a constantly growing community of people who want to wrest control of our government from the powerful forces that keep it from serving us in the ways our founders envisioned. He invites you to join him!
