About Us

Our Work

We will focus on:

  • Education on (1) why people need to participate in our government and how they can do so effectively; and (2) why the government must serve the people and the common good, and how people can effectively support such a government;
  • Collaboration with like-minded organizations in support of our vision/mission; and
  • Activism to increase (1) effective participation by people in government, and (2) the extent to which government serves the people and the common good.

Methodology

We will pursue our vision/mission by:

  • Publishing materials that focus on (1) defining and refining the concepts of “government by the people,” “government for the people,” and “the common good;” (2) educating citizens about their personal responsibilities for participating in our government; and (3) assessing the extent to which particular governmental actions serve the people and the common good;
  • Facilitating discussions of these topics through the use of blogs and other communication technologies;
  • Determining public opinion concerning specific governmental actions through the use of polling software;
  • Promoting the formation of common interest groups through the use of social networking technologies;
  • Creating an infrastructure to facilitate monitoring public policy issues;
  • Creating an infrastructure to facilitate holding public officials accountable; and
  • Facilitating cooperative initiatives in furtherance of a government “by and for the people” through the use of collaborative project software.
  • Our web site will be a work in progress, and we very much welcome all ideas and suggestions that will contribute to achieving our vision/mission.

Nonprofit

We are a public benefit corporation organized under the laws of the State of California.  Our application for California nonprofit status has been granted, and our federal application is pending.

Non-Partisan

We are non-partisan.  We seek to promote government by and for the people through education, collaboration, and activism.  We do not seek to promote any political party or partisan interest.  When our government falls short in our view, we will criticize it regardless of which political party or philosophy is predominant in that government.
